Environmental protection is the responsibility of many government agencies, at all levels. At the national level, broad policies are set by Congress and managed by Executive branch departments. Here in Pennsylvania, responsibilities of state agencies also reach down into local areas, particularly in areas of conservation and stormwater management. Delaware County works in cooperation with Federal and State agencies to distribute funds and implement projects throughout the county. Finally, each inidividual municipality is responsible for basic operations such as waste collection and disposal, recycling, and sewage treatment, using services supported by the county.
