The Department of Energy has once again delayed the retirement of the Eddystone oil and gas-powered electrical generating plant, adding to concerns that the Trump administration aims to prevent any fossil-fueled power plant from closing during its term. The owner, Constellation Energy Corp., had planned toclose it in May.

The Trump administration on Friday ordered that all construction stop on Revolution Wind, a $4 billion wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island that is already nearly 70 percent complete and would produce enough electricity for more than 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut by next spring. The two states have vowed to fight the shutdown.
The Chester Lead-Free Task Force is gearing up to offer lead testing at about 20 daycare centers throughout the city this fall. Working in conjunction with the Delaware County Health Department, the Task Force is focused on testing preschoolers generally children age 3 and younger) who were not born when the Delaware County Health Department conducted an extensive testing campaign in 2021 and 2022.
The U.S. Department of Energy is seeking public comment on its 151-page draft report finding that increased concentrations of CO2 emissions will contribute to the “greening of the planet” and make the oceans more acidic, but it is uncertain what negative affects, such as extreme weather and destruction of coral reefs, will have in coming decades. A study conducted by a group of Johns Hopkins researchers along the Delaware River industrial corridor found that “fence line” residents are at higher risk for multiple health problems because of the toxic mix of air they breathe. The Trump Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a proposal to revoke the endangerment finding. The proposal relies on misinterpretations of the law and recent cases, fringe science, and tortured cost analysis to justify a conclusion that the EPA cannot and should not regulate greenhouse gases (GHG).
