A new report card gives Pennsylvania an F grade for how it governs rooftop solar permitting. The scorecard looked at state policies covering areas such as whether building codes are uniform across the state, whether homeowners associations are allowed to restrict solar adoption, permit fees, and what criteria is used to judge systems.
The “Stop Trashing Our Air Act” (Bill 250768) is scheduled to be voted on by Philadelphia City Council next Thursday, April 9 at 10 a.m. This bill would ban Philly from burning their trash in Chester City at Reworld/Covanta, the largest trash incinerator in the U.S. and one of the biggest polluters in our region. CRCQL plans a rally and a “die-in” in Philadelphia ahead of the vote. The current waste contract expires on June 30.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection held its first quarterly air quality festival at the Redwood Recreation Center in Upland Park to present measurements of air quality from October to December 2025 along the I-95 corridor and waterfront industrial area to the public. It will continue to measure and present results to the public through December 2027.

The Trump Administration has virtually stopped enforcing the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act or the Superfund law, according to an independenct analysis of Envirnmental Protection Agency enforcement actions in the first full year of the Trump Administration.
The Trump administration moved today to overturn a key legal foundation of the federal government’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases. In a press conference at the White House, President Donald Trump hailed the move as “the single largest deregulatory action in American history.”

The sponsor of the Stop Trashing Our Air Act tabled the bill after it became clear Thursday that it would not get enough votes to pass in Philadelphia City Council or to withstand a veto by Mayor Cherelle L. Parker who opposes the measure. The legislation would have banned the city from continuing to send trash to the Reworld incinerator in Chester.
The Delaware County Office of Sustainability has just launched its Sustainable Communities Hub, a website to provide resources for the environmental advisory councils, shade tree commissions and other environmental committees of each Delco community or to inspire those communities that do not have such a committee to start one.
