SUMMARY:Clean Air Council’s Community Air Monitoring meeting
DESCRIPTION:Clean Air Council has gathered and interpreted real-time air quality data from nearly 60 Purple Air monitors installed across South and Southwest Philadelphia and Southern Delaware County. Beyond the data\, our program supports local residents in sharing their stories\, protecting their health\, and advocating for environmental justice. Two of our air monitor hosts were featured in these articles here and here. In this meeting we will share data analysis updates and hear stories from our air monitor hosts on how they are using our community air monitoring network\, taking action\, reporting concerns\, and protecting our right to clean air! \nHave you had any recent air quality concerns or are you interested in sharing how you are using the air monitoring data in your own life and community? Let us know and we would love to lift up your stories and examples in our meeting.

SUMMARY:The Secret Plan for a Massive Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Export Facility
DESCRIPTION:The truth about the proposed Eddystone LNG Terminal on the Delaware River \nFor more than a year\, corporate plans have been galloping ahead behind closed doors in Eddystone Borough\, Delaware County\, PA to build a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) processing and export facility on the river. But neither residents\, nor the general public\, have been informed about this enormous\, dangerous facility that would be set in their neighborhoods\, on their riverfront\, polluting air and watersheds and jeopardizing the regional communities’ public safety. Delaware Riverkeeper Network has obtained files showing drawings\, maps\, property acquisition plans\, company confidentiality agreements\, and more and will be sharing what we have learned at the webinar. Zulene Mayfield of Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living (CRCQL) will join the discussion as we organize against big companies trying to commandeer our future. Please join us and help spread the word by registering now. \nREGISTER FOR ZOOM LINK

SUMMARY:A VIRTUAL CONVERSATION ABOUT DATA CENTERS
DESCRIPTION:Pennsylvania has almost 60 proposed data centers across the state–with more being proposed every week! \nAccording to a recent Climate Power poll\, Americans don’t want data centers powered by fossil fuels — they want clean energy solutions that protect communities by lowering pollution and keeping energy costs down. \nDespite the Pennsylvania House of Representatives advancing strong data center legislation requiring companies to bring new clean energy\, there are still no enforceable statewide clean energy standards or regulations in place. Meanwhile\, more data center proposals are being tied to new\, dirty gas plants that threaten our communities’ air quality and drive-up energy costs for Pennsylvanians. \nOur experts will explore the energy challenges posed by data centers in Pennsylvania—including rising electricity costs\, increased pollution from fossil fuel plants\, and growing strain on the electrical grid. \nWe’ll also explore policy and industry solutions that harness clean energy to meet rising energy demand. \nRSVP HERE!  \n

SUMMARY:Assisted Plant Migration: Expanding Our Native Plant Palette for Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a talk with Eva Monheim. Eva is a Longwood Gardens educator\, arborist\, author of Shrubs and Hedges: Discover\, Grow\, and Care for the World’s Most Popular Plants\, and producer of the award winning Plant a Trillion Trees podcast.\n \nFree — in-person with an online webinar option \n\n\nOnline Registration: register for the Webinar option here. \n\nTalk description: Whether we know it or not\, plant migration has been happening since humans and animals have walked the face of the earth. But now more than ever we need to be more conscious as to what we are moving and why. This movement is not like the movement that occurred at the turn of the 20th century which was mainly seed from food sources – this new migration is shifting native plants north to help fill in the holes of those plants that are retreating north due to continual temperature increases. I will delve deep into how this is all playing out and will continue to play out with our eyes wide open. It’s not all doom and gloom. It’s being conscious and purposeful.

SUMMARY:PA Constituent Training for Net Metering Meetings
DESCRIPTION:If you have solar panels on your home\, or know someone who does\, you may be familiar with net metering. Because solar owners don’t always use all the energy they generate\, that extra energy can go towards powering neighbors’ homes. Net metering allows solar owners to receive a credit on their electric bill for any extra energy they contribute to the grid. \nOur partners at Solar United Neighbors are hosting a training on net metering and how Pennsylvanians can defend the policy. Register to join the webinar\, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday\, June 3. \nMore than 88\,000 Pennsylvania solar owners benefit from net metering. Ending net metering in Pennsylvania would mean ending fair payments for households that have invested in grid-strengthening local solar power\, and it would weaken a valuable source of affordable energy as electricity costs soar. \nNet metering for solar generation routinely comes under attack\, particularly by monopoly utility companies. It is imperative that your representatives hear from you about the importance of this policy in supporting solar energy\, lowering costs\, and strengthening the electric grid in Pennsylvania. \nRegister for the webinar today!

SUMMARY:Livestream: The Good News on Renewables (And the Threat That Could Undo It)
DESCRIPTION:Join our free livestream on May 12 @ 7 pm ET / 4 pm PT to hear the good news — despite Trump’s best efforts\, renewable energy keeps winning! It’s a tug of war\, and we’re pulling ahead. \nOur job? Keep winning on renewables. Stop fossil fuel infrastructure. Fight immunity bills and polluter giveaways. Clear the path for clean energy. \nBut now a Republican bill threatens to yank the rope back. It would hand total immunity to the companies driving our climate crisis. That would mean gutting climate superfunds that states like Vermont and New York are using to make polluters pay billions and to give Big Oil & Gas a “get-out-of-jail-free-card” from ever being held accountable for the harm they knowingly caused. \nRSVP for this virtual conversation with live Q/A\, Tuesday\, May 12. Celebrate the good news. Understand the threat. And take collective action for a clean energy future! \nRoddy Hughes\nroddy.hughes@sierraclub.org

SUMMARY:What do Cruise Ships in Philadelphia have to do with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)?
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn about the Philadelphia Port Authority’s (PPA) plans to bring the cruise ship industry to Philadelphia and the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel. \n\n\n\nWhat are the public safety threats for Philadelphia and Southeastern PA?\nWhat are the potential environmental impacts for the Delaware River and its communities?\nWhere will they produce\, transport and store LNG – a hazardous\, flammable\, and explosive material?\nWhy haven’t communities been informed?\nWill there be polluting air emissions?\nWhat is the scope — the size of the ships\, how often they will sail\, and when?\nWhere exactly will these enormous ships dock\, fuel up\, and be serviced and how will they navigate the Delaware River?\n\nThere are many questions for which we have been seeking answers; we will share what we have learned and discuss the implications. We insist the public has the right to know all of this information immediately since the first sailing is supposed to be in April and people who live and work in the region are within the impact zone. We have requested PPA to hold a public information session right away. The potential impacts of this new industry are of great consequence for the environment\, the Delaware River\, and communities in Pennsylvania\, South Jersey\, and Delaware. \nThursday\, April 30\, 7:00pm\nREGISTER HERE NOW

SUMMARY:Breaking Down DRBC's Framework for Resilience
DESCRIPTION:The Delaware River Basin Commission’s Water Resources Resilience Plan (WRRP) supports management of the Basin’s shared water resources through the known and potential impacts of climate change and other challenges. \nThe WRRP has 3 phases\, each with a public input component. Phase 1 was completed in March 2026 and reflected input from partners and stakeholders to define a consensus-based framework for the plan. Phase 2 will consist of a vulnerability assessment and a gap analysis to identify and prioritize potential actions that can be taken by the DRBC and/or other regional partners to advance resilience of the Basin’s water resources. \nJoin DRBC staff to learn more about the plan’s progress and next steps! \nVisit https://tinyurl.com/WRRP-webinar to register.
