DESCRIPTION:Memorial Ride & Ghost Bike Dedication \n\n\nPlease join us on Saturday\, March 28th for a memorial ride and ghost bike dedication for Teddy Einstein. Teddy was a beloved husband and father of two young children who was killed by a driver on the afternoon of December 3rd\, while cycling along the Bicyclist Baltimore Pike. \nGroups of cyclists will meet up (9:45am gather\, 10am roll) either in Swarthmore (meet at Myers + Park Avenue\, Swarthmore Train Station) or in West Philadelphia (43rd + Chester Street) to bike to the scene of the crash (W Providence Road + E Penns Pines Boulevard). There will be a pop-up intersection reconfiguration to demonstrate a safer intersection. At 11am we will have a brief ghost bike dedication ceremony with a few speakers. Cyclists will then return to West Philly and Swarthmore. \nFree Registration \n

That is why we are having a “Die In” on the steps of Philly City Hall on April 7th at 9:30 AM\, to demonstrate the catastrophic effects of Reworld’s trash incinerator. This incinerator is the main contributor of pollution to our community and because of that we have increased incidents of cancer\, asthma\, and other health risks. We discuss technique\, gear\, and essential knowledge about photography and wildlife. A desire to make great wildlife images\, and a good camera and lens are all that’s needed\, though a lens with an effective focal length of at least 200mm to 300mm is very helpful. \nPhotowalks will be at a relaxed paced on flat surfaces. We’ll also discuss the benefits of native plants and how they can help absorb runoff\, support wildlife\, and improve water quality. Participants will receive native plants to help get started at home (while supplies last). \nResidents of the upstream areas of the Chester\, Ridley\, and Crum Creek watersheds will also be eligible to sign up for a free Stream Smart House Call following the workshop. Stream Smart House Calls are free\, grant-funded educational property visits. During a House Call\, trained PRC staff will walk through your property with you\, answer questions\, and identify opportunities to better manage stormwater through practices such as rain gardens\, downspout redirects\, rain barrels\, or native plantings. Participants receive a short follow-up summary with suggestions. \nThis workshop is free\, but registration is required. \n\n“Funding for this project was awarded through the “Protect Your Drinking Water” grant program\, administered by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council with funding from Aqua\, an Essential Utilities company.”
