DEP In-person Feedback Opportunity on Energy Efficiency & Home Electrification Rebate Program

October 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Pennsylvania Home Energy Rebates Information Session Registration
DEP encourages you to attend one of our engagement sessions, learn more about the Home Energy Rebates, and provide input on how these programs can help you.

Background
Through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been awarded $258 million by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to help eligible Pennsylvanians save on home energy costs by offering rebates aimed at improving energy efficiency through the following programs:

Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR / HEEHRA) – $129,226,380

Home Efficiency Rebates (HER / HOMES) – $129,723,107

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Energy Programs Office is currently designing the programs for implementation in compliance with DOE requirements and is expected to submit the program plans for federal approval by mid-November 2024.

Outreach and Engagement
The PA DEP is holding public information sessions to discuss the development of the Home Energy Rebate Programs in Pennsylvania. The Home Energy Rebate Programs will provide Pennsylvania residents discounts for high efficiency home appliances and equipment, as well as funding for energy efficiency improvements to single- and multi-family homes.

As a part of our engagement process, DEP plans to host meetings in communities around the state to convene with residents, learn about their needs and home energy concerns, and incorporate their priorities into its final plans prior to submission to DOE.

Your input and questions will be valuable in helping plan and implement these programs. All sessions are open to the public and prior registration is encouraged, but not required.

According to the Clean Air Council, Pennsylvania should ensure that its program design for these rebate programs maximizes emissions reductions and prioritizes the households that have the most to benefit from energy efficiency upgrades.

Clean Air Council will provide suggested talking points for anyone interested who emails Alice ([email protected])
