Casual hike in Smedley Park along Crum Creek

February 23 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Join the Sierra Club for a relatively easy 2 mile walk at Smedley Park. While mostly level, there are a few short slopes and the trail is not paved for the full duration so this trail may not be accessible to all. We will have plenty of stops along the way for discussion and breaks.

RSVP Please

While strolling, we will be able to see a winding portion of Crum Creek, which runs through Springfield PA, and learn some of the industrial history of Crum Valley. Like nearly all streams in the Eastern US, this valley has seen industrial activity since colonial times, in this case lasting into the early 1960s.

Please be aware that the public restrooms at the park are closed for the season. The Springfield Mall is a half-mile away, but not accessible on foot. This outing is open to adults and children who are used to hiking a few miles, with the patience for occasional stops. Leashed, well-mannered dogs are welcome. Anyone with knowledge of the park’s history will be welcome to share.

Level: Easy

Cost: FREE

Bring: Water, weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable walking shoes.

Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels
