Haverford launches curbside compost pickup July 13

Haverford Township will start collecting kitchen waste for composting July 13. It will distribute 900 free countertop compost collectors and 2,500 free 5-gallon buckets for curbside pickup at the township building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14.

New study: ‘Forever chemicals’ prevalent throughout Delaware River basin

The latest results of extensive field investigation and monitoring of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) by the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) shows contamination by PFAS, known as “forever chemicals,” is both “widespread and persistent” in the Delaware River and selected tributaries.

Portion of Heinz Refuge trail closed for year for flood repairs

A portion of the Wetland Loop Trail and part of the parking lot at the main entrance to the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge on Lindbergh Boulevard have been closed for 12 months to repair damage to the trail and the dike caused by Tropical Storm Isaias in 2020.

Upcoming Delco Sustainability events – recycling yard signs and roadside cleanup

The Delaware County Sustainability Office is cosponsoring two upcoming events: The first is a campaign yard sign recycling opportunity May 29 and May 30 and the second is roadside cleanup in Trainer on June 13 in partnership with the NMS Watersheds Alliance to prevent roadside trash from flowing into Marcus Hook Creek.
